There’s a lot going on this week, so I’ll get right to it.
Author Ann Patchett and publishing veteran Karen Hayes just announced the opening of Parnassus Books in Nashville. Parnassus will open in October of this year. All of us at Booksellers know and love Karen, and are excited for the addition of a quality bookstore in Nashville. Bookstores are gems;quality bookstores are blue-white diamonds.
Herman Parish took up the tradition of the Amelia Bedelia books from his aunt Peggy in 1988. Herman will be at Booksellers on August 27th at 11:00 a.m., signing and discussing his books on this intrepid housekeeper and her adventurous childhood.
A couple of new additions to the blog for this month: I will be featuring our Story Time on the Kid’s Corner page for the months of August and September. Many of you want to know more about our story times and children’s events; what books we are reading and what special projects Miss Marjorie may have in the works. On the flip side, I have added a new page for our best picks in Mysteries. As many of you know, we have one or two people with excellent tastes in this genre, and I hope to present a couple of these each week. With time, I would like to expand outward into more areas, with more emphasis on non-fiction titles.
